Rame Peninsula Heritage Gateway

Sheviock's St Mary's Church has been awarded initial support for a grant of £248,500 by the Heritage Lottery Fund towards the development of a Heritage Gateway to the Rame Peninsula.

The Church will use this grant to help pay for urgent repairs to the spire, tower and ceilings.  Work will also include providing kitchen and toilet facilities, improving heating, lighting and access which will enable the church to be of greater use to the wider community.

The grant will also cover the cost of the development of heritage interpretation materials and activities for the Church and wider Rame Peninsula.

The Church has received an initial development grant of £36,000 from the HLF to enable them to progress the project's plans in order to apply for the rest of the grant later in the year.  The project was launched at St Mary's on 20th January.

The Church is continuing its fundraising mission for this project with bids to other grant awarding bodies and its own fundraising.  The Church needs to raise £4,000 this year to meet its £10,000 target for the project and plans to do this through three funding events and a grand draw.

  • Summer Soiree at Antony House on Friday 8 June
  • Guided Sheviock Parish Walks on 1st and 2nd September
  • Harvest Dance featuring The Friday Night Boys on Saturday 27 October
  • Grand Draw to be launched at the Summer Soiree and drawn at the Harvest Dance
